Hello, Waiting for Baby Bird!
I truly believe God has lead me to your website. I am currently going through infertility and have just had our 2nd failed ISCI treatment. God has been using His people to speak to my husband and I that we will 100% conceive and God has spoken to them now a few times. I am distraught in my struggle to believe and let go as we have not been given much hope humanly speaking. My struggle to surrender is so strong and making me physically sick with worry . When I read your testimony stories in He Settles the Barren Part 3, I cried so hard. How can I get to that place of trust and belief that God has spoken? How do I get to that place of surrender?
Wanting to Trust
Dear Wanting to Trust,
I am so happy and thankful you reached out. First of all, the question you asked…“How do I get to that place surrender?”…is a question I get asked often. Truthfully, I never know how to answer. For me, and so many others, it comes when we reach a point where we are at end of ourselves. When our minds finally connect with our hearts that it isn’t about me; it’s about He. It’s about His abilities, not mine. It’s about His leading, not my guiding. And it’s about resting in what His word says, no longer looking to the world for suggestions or assurance. Because in His word, He mentioned seven women, settling them all as happy mothers (Psalm 113:9). SEVEN. To me, that alone speaks the Father’s heart. And because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever I know that His heart for healing, restoration, and fulfilling the desires He has placed within our hearts is still alive and well today. When that becomes our Truth and everything else a lie, we can let go of our grip. My advice to you is this, keep asking Holy Spirit for help with trusting and surrendering. He will. It might not be overnight. But like me, you will wake up one day and realize, “Wait! I’m at peace about this, and I trust.” You won’t have done it on your own, but with His help.
As for the question on how to reach a place of trust and belief of that He has spoken? Sometimes you just have to make a decision. A decision to believe; to believe, or have faith, without evidence. One of the oldest tricks of the enemy is to get you to question what God has said. It was his first line spoken in the bible, his first avenue of deceit when he asked Eve, “Did God really say…” Unfortunately, Eve entertained that questioned. When the enemy comes to question what God has spoken to you, don’t entertain it. Simply, say yes, and believe.
Before I end, I want to give you another word of encouragement. You mentioned that it was impossible humanly speaking to conceive, and I understand this. I’m also at the impossible stage, but one Truth I hold onto is Romans 4:18-22. It says, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead–since he was about a hundred years old–and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.”
Abraham had no reason to hope, but against all hope, he continued to hope. And He chose faith. In his waiting, he chose to trust God’s plan, to believe His promise and to keep waiting, even against the odds.
May you also continue to hold onto your confession of hope, having faith that He who promised is faithful. (Hebrews 10:23)
One final thought: none of us wait well if we’re not spending daily time with the source of life, the Lord. So, in this season of uncertainty, give Him your undivided attention. Choose each day to curl up in His lap and let Him love you from His heart.
Please know that I’m praying for you, and I’m always here with listening ears.
With all my love,
