15 Songs That Offer Hope During the Two Week Wait

There are so many emotions and thoughts that run through your mind during the two-week wait. You are hopeful, yet realistic. You are scared, yet excited. You are cautious, yet frantically making plans of where you will tell your family, how you will decorate the nursery, and what the baby shower will look like. (Hellllloooooo *secret* Pinterest board)

The two-week wait (TWW) can be the hardest 14 days a woman wanting to conceive can endure. And it’s because in the waiting, in the wondering, and in the hoping, our emotions go up and down…and up…and then back down. We can turn into a one woman circus show as we believe with 100 percent certainty we are pregnant with every twitch, soreness, and feelings of nausea. But then return to doubt and fear as we wonder if we will ever carry life in our womb.

Below you will find 15 songs that were suggested by women who have been in the same “waiting room” of life as you. Each song has the ability to keep your mind focused, your heart encouraged, and your soul in check to believe that no matter what, God has a plan and soon you will see His plan unfold; and not just in your heart, but one day in your arms.

I Haven’t Met You Yet by Michael Buble

I might have to wait, I’ll never give up
I guess it’s half timing and the other half’s luck
Wherever you are, whenever it’s right
You’ll come out of nowhere and into my life

Somehow I know that it’ll all turn out
You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out
And promise you kid I’ll give so much more than I get
I just haven’t met you yet…

Overcomer by Mandisa

You’re an overcomer
Stay in the fight ’til the final round
You’re not going under
‘Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it’s hopeless
That’s when he reminds you
That you’re an overcomer…

King of the World by Natalie Grant

I tried to fit you in the walls inside my mind
I try to keep you safely inbetween the lines
I try to put you in the box that I’ve designed
I try to pull you down so we are eye to eye

When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world?
I try to take life back right out of the hands of the king of the world
How could I make you so small
When you’re the one who holds it all
When did I forget that you’ve always been the king of the world…

Take Courage by Kristine DiMarco with Bethel

Take courage my heart
Stay steadfast my soul
He’s in the waiting
He’s in the waiting
Hold onto your hope
As your triumph unfolds
He’s never failing
He’s never failing

I Have This Hope by Tenth Avenue North

As I walk this great unknown
Questions come and questions go
Was there purpose for the pain?
Did I cry these tears in vain?

I don’t want to live in fear
I want to trust that You are near
Trust Your grace can be seen
In both triumph and tragedy

Giants Fall by Francesca Battistelli

Everyone’s telling you
To let go of what you’re holding to
It’s too late, too far
You’re too small, it’s too hard
Throwing water on that spark
Living deep inside your heart
With oceans of reasons
The things you’re not seeing
But oh, maybe they don’t
Know what you know
That you’re not alone

Do It Again by Elevation Worship

Walking around these walls
I thought by now they’d fall
But You have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle’s won
For You have never failed me yet

Even If by MercyMe

I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone

They say it only takes a little faith
To move a mountain
Good thing
A little faith is all I have right now
But God, when You choose
To leave mountains unmovable
Give me the strength to be able to sing
It is well with my soul

Hope by Natasha Bedingfield

Remember morning always comes
As night surrenders to the sun
No matter how dark it may become
Don’t stop your light from shining on
‘Cause nothing’s ever over till you say it’s over
And nothing’s ever finished
Not unless you walk away

Still by Hillary Scott

I believe that You are God alone
But sometimes I still try to take control
Cause I get scared when I can’t see the end
And all You want from me is to let go

You’re parting waters
Making a way for me
You’re moving mountains that I don’t even see
You’ve answered my prayer before I even speak
All You need for me to be is still

Nothing Is Impossible by the Planetshakers

Through You I can do anything
I can do all things
‘Cause it’s You who gives me strength
Nothing is impossible
Through You blind eyes are open
Strongholds are broken
I am living by faith
Nothing is impossible

Trust In You by Lauren Daigel

I’ve tried to win this war I confess
My hands are weary I need Your rest
Mighty Warrior, King of the fight
No matter what I face, You’re by my side

No Matter What by Kerrie Roberts

I know You have Your reasons for everything
So I will keep believing
Whatever I might be feeling
God You are my hope
And You’ll be my strength…

While I’m Waiting by John Waller

I’m waiting, I’m waiting on You Lord
And I am hopeful, I’m waiting on You Lord
Though it is painful, but patiently I will wait

And I will move ahead bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience

While I’m waiting I will serve You
While I’m waiting I will worship
While I’m waiting I will not faint
I’ll be running the race even while I wait

I’m waiting, I’m waiting on You Lord
And I am peaceful, I’m waiting on You Lord
Though it’s not easy no, but faithfully I will wait
Yes, I will wait

  1. “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten came out while I was in the midst of my IVF journey. The morning of my second retrieval, after my blood clots resolved, when they took me in the operating room for the procedure, the thing that stuck out the most was that they had the radio on, and that song was on. I had sung that song to myself so many times since I had first heard it, it kinda became my theme song. A couple months later, I was finally pregnant. I don’t think I know any of these songs though. I’ll have to remember this post when we head back into our next IVF journey. 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for this! I really needed this during this season in my life. I am quite new to worship music as I’m used to very classical church music and I’m looking forward to exploring alternative melodies for my soul.
